Woodland Trust

Woodland Trust have worked with the project to ensure ‘right trees for the right place’. This included site visits and meeting landowners to discuss future plans. We are extremely grateful for joint grant funding with the Northern Forest initiative. Our relationship will continue with Woodland Trust to maximise benefits.

Ovington Community Group

Thornton Family Fund

The Thornton Family Fund was set up for the benefit of the communities in the north-east especially underprivileged people in the Tyne Valley. It operates via  Community Foundation Tyne & Wear.

Tyne Rivers Trust

Tyne Rivers Trust have advised on riverside planting and ensured our proposals would meet riverside licence regulations. A super team of volunteers helped clear riverside land and plant ed a long new hedgerow and free standing trees. In addition, short willow rods were used to help reinforce the riverbank to help flood resilience.

Whittle Dene CIC

Whittle Dene Community Interest Company (CIC) have supported the project from the outset. They encourage visitors to their woodland workshops to walk to them via the linear arboretum routes from either Ovingham or Ovington.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust

Northumberland Wildlife Trust have supported the project with wildlife species identification. They have recently acquired land and will work with the project to organise wildlife events.

Northumberland County Council

Northumberland County Council  (NCC) gave initial advice on tree species for roadside planting and tree management. NCC Climate and Environment team commissioned a video of our Queen’s Green Canopy community tree planting event and have continued to support with grants and their free trees scheme.

The pottery has provided ongoing support to the project. The potter arranged community design events to create a tree mural in The Green bus shelter. Grant funding was provided by the Queen’s Jubilee Fund and the overall design was chosen to recognise the long lasting value Ovington Tree Project will deliver.

Ovingham Community Orchard

Ovingham Community Orchard provided volunteers for both tree planting and tree maintenance days. Additionally, Ovingham Community Orchard kindly donated trees for our planting schemes.  We shall continue to work closely with Ovingham Community Orchard for future events.
